The Norton Park project involved the conversion and restoration of a 100 year old Edinburgh school building into headquarters accommodation for 25 to 30 different voluntary organisations. The complex is owned and managed by the Albion Trust, a registered charity, and the work was completed in 2000 at a cost of £2.5 million. The project was designed according to principles of sustainability and won both the Robert Grieve and Regeneration of Scotland awards, a Civic Trust award and featured as a UK entrant in the International Green Building challenge in Vancouver. As a result of the high levels of energy efficiency achieved, the building has been selected by the BRE as exemplar of good design. |
